Europe represents nearly 45% of Ivorian exports and more than 35% of its imports, making the EU a "strategic partner" of Côte d'Ivoire", declared yesterday the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Patrick Achi, during the partnership dialogue session between the country and the Union provided for in the framework of the Cotonou Agreement and the new Partnership Agreement between the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union (OACPS) and the EU, initialed in Brussels on 16 April 2021.
In Côte d'Ivoire, said the Head of Government, the EU is investing FCFA 652 billion (€ 1.6 billion) in 3 key initiatives, namely security, carbon transition and the sustainable cocoa initiative.
With regard to cocoa, Patrick Achi wanted to be unequivocal, affirming that "Côte d'Ivoire will respect all its commitments in terms of the fight against deforestation and respect for human rights". euros which will be devoted by the "Team Europe", over the next few years, to support the sustainable cocoa strategy carried out by the government", specified for her part the ambassador of the EU in Côte d'Ivoire, Francesca Di Mauro.
